California Prop 65 Warning
WARNING: This product can expose you to Bis-(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate
(DEHP) which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and
birth defects or other reproductive harm
Hey Al! What is the deal? What is with the scary warning?
Right. First of all, only companies over a certain
size are even required post this warning. As a mom and pop company,
we don't even have to post it which makes me wonder how much a
threat these substances can be in the amounts that appear in this
product. I only put it here because I happened to see a slip of
paper in the shipment that stated the warning so I am honor bound
not to sell them to you without letting you make an informed
decision. The gloves are made in China as is probably all the
clothes we are wearing and we wear those clothes far more constantly
than we wear parade gloves. Do we think those clothes don't have
stuff in them that can cause cancer?
AND WHY IS ONLY CALIFORNIA WORRIED ABOUT IT?
NOTICE THAT THE WARNING STATES THESE GLOVES "Can
expose" you to these chemicals. It does not say that they DO expose
you to them or, if so, how high the levels are. Are those compounds
even present in these gloves? Are they present in mere trace
amounts? We have no idea and neither would the distributor. It is
safer to post the warning.
Second of all, you don't wear these gloves 24
hours a day seven days a week. You wear them for the time it takes
to walk a parade route however many times per year you march in a
parade.
Third of all, just don't put your fingers in your
mouth while you are wearing these gloves. Wash your hands after you
wear them or before touching food
We're just not going to carry gloves anymore so I
hope these closeout prices just make them worth it for you
Print this out, hand it out with each pair of gloves, and tell
your members not to put their gloved fingers in their mouths!
